Gotu Kola is regarded as one of the most important rejuvenative herbs in Ayurvedic Medicine. It is mostly known for its mild diuretic, antirheumatic, dermatological, peripheral vasodilator and vulnerary properties.
Traditionally it has been used for rheumatic conditions and topically for dermatological healing with wounds, post-surgery injuries and ulcers. Since Gotu kola promotes healthy connective tissue formation, it also supports blood vessel strength and integrity as well as normal circulation of blood, and as a rejuvenative nervine herb, it is often recommended for balancing the nervous system, particularly in cases of stress and anxiety.
Gotu Kola is best avoided during pregnancy and lactation.
